The William Bligh

The small bar scene in Adelaide continues to impress with one of its newest additions - The William Bligh. Sporting one of Adelaide’s widest selections of rum, the venue aims to provide an experience unlike any that has come before it.

The name of the bar heralds from an 18th century British Naval Officer who (after surviving a mutiny on his own ship) was appointed governor of New South Wales and ordered to ‘clean up’ its corrupt rum trade. Co-owner of The William Bligh, Jarrod Hales, sees things a little differently and is looking to share his love of rum with our great city!

The interior of the bar reflects the nautical theme, with dimly lit tables, booths and a giant map of Bligh’s travels across the open ocean hung on the back wall. The custom made copper-top bar was created using pylons from the old Moonta Bay jetty, and only adds to the authentic feel of the setting.

This passion and attention to detail doesn’t stop with the decor, as The William Bligh stocks deliciously tasty rum from all around the world. There are also a range of local and imported beers and wine and all of the fresh produce used to serve up their delectable grazing platters comes directly from the Adelaide Central Market. If you’re feeling like something different, ask for a ‘spiked’ tea or coffee or a crowd favourite espresso ‘rum-tini’.
